Abstract

Polycatechols have become one of the most important functional polymers and have been widely used in various applications due to its unique chemical structure and fascinating performance. According to the location of catechol units in different parts of the polymer architecture, polycatechols can be divided into those with catechol units in main chains, those with catechol units inside chains, and those with catechol units in terminus chains. In this chapter, the synthesis, characterization, and properties of different polycatechols will be summarized. Furthermore, the potential application of these polycatechols will be discussed.
