Abstract

This work evaluates relationships between fish IBI’s, land cover metrics, and watershed size. This analysis will provide a baseline from which to analyze how sediment loads and local geomorphology affect IBI scores. The Georgia WRD Stream Survey Team has used indices of biotic integrity (IBI) based on fish communities to assess stream health across the Piedmont of Georgia. They have surveyed fish communities in approximately 175 streams reaches across the Piedmont. The associated watersheds feature a wide mix of land cover characteristics.
