Putting our Thoughts Together: Information Creation as a Process in Pursuit of Inclusive Excellence

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentationpeer-review

Abstract

The pandemic aside, the Georgia Southern University Libraries, working through an institutional directive, was tasked with creating an Inclusive Excellence Action Plan (IEAP) for the entity. The University’s Office of Inclusive Excellence provided the template for uniformity across colleges and units to guide the procedure and aid with consistency. The University Libraries Diversity Council was directed to write the University Libraries’ plan with input from all University Libraries personnel. This process operationalized one of the frames within the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education developed by the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL). The frame: Information Creation as a Process, specifically aligned with the way the team responsible for executing the task collaboratively went about doing so: from researching and gathering foundational information; crafting, revising and publishing the document; and finally delivering the finished product on behalf of the University Libraries to the Office of Inclusive Excellence.
