Abstract

Na, K-ATPase, an abundant enzyme in Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) epithelial cells, is located in the basolateral membrane domain (Lamb et al., 1981). The isoform composition of the enzyme units expressed has not been reported. The presence of Na, K-ATPase α1 and β1 isoform mRNAs has been demonstrated (Bowen and McDonough, 1987); however, the expression of other known Na, K-ATPase isoforms is so far undetermined.
