Abstract

Paper presented at the annual meeting of The American Educational Research Association International Conference (AERA 2008)

This study investigates current computer technology practices among 234 elementary and secondary teachers from public school sectors. The study investigated teachers values, expectations and costs associate with the implementation of computer technologies; nature of computer implementation related with school environment, demographics and computer accesibility; and inservice teachers training to utilize technology integration activities. TIQ questionnaire and individual interviews were used for these purposes. Teachers positively agree with the perceived expectancy of success and perceived value of technology use in classroom however, they have less positive agreement toward perceived cost of technology use. The results of this study suggests that inservice teacher training programs need to make sure to provide the knowledge, skills and practices to help teachers improve their computer skills.
