Abstract

A variety of quaternary ammoniurn salts derived from 2-ary1-3-(N,N-dimethy1 ami no)-1-propenes have been converted to the corresponding alkyl and fluoroalkyl ethers by displacement of the ammonium group. This procedure represents an efficient means for the construction of 2-aryl substituted allylic ethers.
