Abstract

Transitions between the A1p{cyrillic} and B1+ states of CO are studied by first exciting A1p{cyrillic} by a two-photon excitation. A second laser scans the various vibrational transitions between the A 1p{cyrillic} and B 1+ states. Signals arising from the subsequent ionization of the B 1+ population provide rovibrational assignments for the two excited states. Additionally, a two-photon rate of 5 × 10-11 I2 cm4 W-2 5-1 and a photoionization cross section of 1.4 × 10-20 cm2 were measured for this process.
