Victim Profiles

Research output: Contribution to book or proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Victim profiles refer to either the distinctive demographic characteristics of crime victims (e.g., age, race, and sex) or individual traits (e.g., self-control and genetic factors) that correspond to having a greater probability of victimization. Victim profiles assume that victimization is not a random event. In fact, the data show that many factors are linked with victimization risk.
