Abstract
Oral: The human right to health of vulnerable populations such as the elderly, disabled, HIV/AIDS infected persons and children, child-headed households in Africa along with the mental health of returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan will be discussed. Although progress has been made toward assuring health for these vulnerable groups with the passing of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) deficits still exist. These deficits will be discussed along with possible solutions.
Session Objectives: 1.Describe the relationships between health and human rights of the elderly, disabled persons, HIV/AIDS infected persons and children, and child-headed households in Africa. 2.Evaluate the interaction between mental health and human rights of returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
