Abstract
This article is a revision of the keynote address given at the Open Pages in South Asian Studies Conference, held at the Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow, in April 2013. The conference is dedicated to the presentation and discussion of areas for further research and development within the field of South Asian studies.
